the problem with wine is that it will void your warrenty that apple gives you. Bootcamp is the only option that you have for duel booting.

Darwine is good for non Intel based mac's. he's running the new 10.4

That is absurd and false. Apple's warranty covers defects in the computer hardware. If your screen dies, Apple will replace it whether you have Wine on there or not. Do not spread that misinformation. Apple's warranty doesn't cover software, be it their own or somebody else's.

i think the problem is that if he dls a virus or something(not likely) then apple will do nothing about it. a program cannot destroy hardware most of the time

but bootcamp is easy and guaranteed to work so ur choice

im not talking about the screen man... Im talking if you fry something, they can blame it on that because it creates a Duel Boot on your harddrive.

Well thats what i heard from a buddy of mine that this happend to him when he took it in.

Your buddy probably had a software-related crash. Apple will not cover a software problem, they'll tell you to reinstall. If you can prove that it was hardware that caused your problem, then they will cover.

"damaged caused by operating the product outside the permitted or intended uses described by Apple" does not include running programs. If that were the case, installing any software would void your warranty. That clause is basically saying "your iBook is not a SCUBA tank." You are permitted to run any program you like on your computer, at your own risk. If your hard drive dies, Apple will replace it. If your system files get corrupted, you're on your own.
